Sacred Heart
Cathedral
Mission
Statement
|
With humility and prayer, we believe it is the will of God that
all people be saved. It is the mission of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Raleigh, North
Carolina that with God’s grace, we as a parish community prayerfully build the
Kingdom of God by sowing seeds of faith, hope, love, compassion, charity,
justice and forgiveness by:
-
Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ, especially through
evangelization.
-
Nurturing the Catholic Faith of our Parish Family.
-
Recognizing, fostering and celebrating the diversity of our
Parish Family.
-
Following the example of Jesus Christ through service to
others, especially those in most need.
With the constant reminder of our baptism, our faith and the
mercy of Christ, we will find courage through the guidance of the Holy Spirit
and in God’s wisdom to fulfill this mission through our involvement with all
baptized people and all people of faith.
We do
this as the Mother Church of the Diocese of Raleigh and as members of the
universal Church in union with our Holy Father. |

Parish Plan
July 2006-2007
Liturgy
Acknowledging our baptismal rights and responsibilities, inspired by the

Christ.

varied prayer experiences such as weekly school liturgies, prayer
services and seasonal prayer experiences.
-
Inspire our children to practice the
Corporal Works of Mercy through organized service projects for the poor

Catholic Schools Week, by publicizing the activities of the school, and
by cooperating with parish committees in planning religious education
activities.

Continue assisting the administration and our lay staff in their
education ministry.
-
Demonstrate our support of Catholic education by providing
a financial investment to
Cathedral School.

contribute to scholarship funds.
-

respond to this call through ministries of awareness, education and action
and plans to:

Focus and depend on prayer
as a specific component of all of our ministries and to continue to
provide a regular time and place for members of our Parish Family to
gather twice each month for Centering Prayer.
-
Continue the Ministries in Compassion and Hope
(MICAH) outreach to the homeless through relationships with Passage Home
and Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, as well as by providing Moore
Square Meals, by welcoming those in need through the Open Door Ministry
