JustLiving the Good News

Meet our new Habitat for Humanity family, Michael and Waldrena Robinson and two year-old, Amaya. They are so excited about getting a home that Waldrena wrote a poem and I have the privilege of sharing it with you.

“How do we say Thank You”

Written by: Waldrena Thomas-Robinson

August 9, 2011

How do we say thank you for the opportunity that happens once in a lifetime.

That we were given something that isn’t just an image stored in the back of our mind.

That he would place it right in our reach.

In our hands……..as he instructed us to hold on tightly.

Tightly on to the word God had spoken some time before.

How he would use someone to bring this blessing forth.

The blessing of our very own home that no one could ever take away.

A place for our daughter to grow up and play.

Not having to worry that the rent will continue to soar.

That the everything we wanted we have been given and more.

A place where we too will have a chance to help build.

A solid foundation that will stand throughout every passing year.

How God knew just when to wipe away our tears.

As he touched the hearts of all of you here.

A savior that has been there for our every beacon call. To be the shepherd for us all.

It’s amazing that out of everyone in our family he chose us to be the ones to break the chains of what others thought could never be.

How we will be a light to show others how faithfulness has always been the key.

The key to unlock everything God wants you to have and then some.

Thank you Habitat and our Sponsors for being the one.

The one God will use to bless our family, and we continue to be the ones to look back and help others achieve their dreams.

If he did it for us………he’d do the same for you, just hold on to God as he carries you through.

Again how can we say thank you for all you do.

Love always,

The Robinson Family

THE EXCITEMENT IS DEFINITELY BUILDING!!!

JustFaith Ministries presents a spiritual deepening process that invites small groups of adult Christians to explore the intersection between contemplative presence and social action, as it is lived out in their own lives. Engaging Spirituality focuses on the practical challenges of following Jesus into the broken heart of our world, inspired by the urgency and spirit of the Gospel message to our lives, to our relationships, and to our times. Participants practice “the undivided life” of Christian discipleship—engaging in contemplation while immersing ourselves in the heart of our fragmented world.

We are looking to form a group of 10 to 15 parishioners at Sacred Heart beginning Fall of 2012. Contact socialconcern@sacredheartcathedral

Check out the education section of the Social Justice page for more information.

JustFaith

JustFaith is the original 30-week seminar in the peace and justice tradition of the Catholic Church. Participants consisting of 10-15 parishioners become a small group community as they read, study and discuss with one another on a weekly basis topics such as the scriptural imperative for justice, the Church’s preferential option for the poor, papal and US Bishops’ statements on justice, the causes of growing world poverty, consumerism and racism.

JustFaith Ministries programs help individuals experience conversion, integrating their personal spirituality with social commitment. Participants are empowered to develop a passion and thirst for justice and to express this passion in concrete acts of social ministry in their parish or church and in the community at large.

“(Those) who attempt to act and do things for others or for the world without deepening (their) own self-understanding, freedom, integrity, and capacity to love, will not have anything to give others.”    —Thomas Merton
