Love one another as I have loved you

Global Outreach Ministry
calls our parishioners into solidarity with those throughout the
world and to work for global justice and peace. Activities
include CROP Walk, Fair Trade Sales, Haiti Project,
international mission trips, Operation Rice Bowl, refugee
resettlement, and educational programs. If you would like to
participate on a global level, contact Sally Poland at
sally@sapoland.com.
***Fair Trade buys products of
disadvantaged farmers & artisans of third world countries
through Catholic Relief Services and Larry's Beans and sells
them at fair prices locally within the parish on the third
Sunday of every month. With the profit that is generated through
parishioners' commitment, Cathedral has developed personal,
long-term relationships with partners in Nicaragua, Kenya,
Honduras, and now Haiti. We have sponsored refugee families from
Vietnam, Liberia, Somalia, and Burma/Myanmar. We continue to
support other efforts in global solidarity as they emerge.***
Coffee Changes Brewing!
The
cost of your favorite 16 oz. bag of fair trade, shade grown,
organic coffee is increasing to $12. This is because the price
we pay for wholesale coffee has risen dramatically. Around the
world over the past two years, an increased demand for coffee
has outpaced supply, causing the price hikes. Global Outreach
needs to raise our retail prices to continue funding for global
partnerships in Nicaragua, Honduras, Kenya and Haiti. We hope
our faithful customers will understand and continue to choose
Fair Trade. Remember, your purchase gives twice: first to the
farmers who receive a fair price, and second to the global
projects that Cathedral supports. Plus our CRS coffee partner,
Larry's Beans, donates a percentage of the purchase price to
Catholic Relief Services. And you get a delicious cup of
coffee. It's still a bargain!
